DESCRIPTION: An infrequent rust that produces amphigenous uredinia on the leaves of the host. These pustules are well spread, usually abundant and of a light chocolate brown in colour. The aecial stage is hypophyllous and is made up of a pinkish swelling covered in oranges cups with white frilly edges. SPORES: Uredospores are brown, echinulate and up to 25µm in diameter (Link). HABITAT: On Marsh and Common Valerian. SEASON: Summer to early autumn.
